Raising awareness for the Trisomy 21 citizen's inclusion
Imagine
a society where everybody is fully integrated and respected in spite of their
differences and oddities. Imagine those outcast members of that society being able
to work and function, be included and leading a normal life. After all, they
are just regular people, albeit born with an extra chromosome. Awareness
for the Trisomy 21 citizen's inclusion has been slowly increasing. In 2012, the
European Parliament adopted a declaration on children with Down Syndrome urging
the Commission, the Council and the Member States of the European Union to
contribute to these children's social inclusion through awareness-raising
campaigns. And this is how the T21COMmunity
project was born. Aiming at making a positive difference in the area of Down's
Syndrome children's support, T21COMmunity is set on promoting and contributing
to ease the social inclusion and the employability of the European Down's
Syndrome youth citizens through the Tourism industry and e-skills. Furthermore,
the project also wishes to foster, safeguard and promote the European Cultural
Heritage through promoting Touristic activities, as well as requalification in
terms of cultural, audio-visual and e-Skills diversity in cross-sectorial areas. The
project is a cooperation between E.S.E.S. (Escola Superior de Educação de Santarém),
ViaTecla, H.Z.Z.D.S. (Hrvatska zajednica za Down sindrom) and A.I.P.D.
(Associazona Italiana Persone Down) - the last 2 being the Croatian and Italian
Down's Syndrome associations - within Erasmus+ KA2 programme. ViaTecla's
contribution in the project is twofold. As the only company in the project's
consortium, ViaTecla provides feedback on the needs, requirements and
challenges regarding employability of T21 citizens in a corporate environment. On
the other hand is also responsible for the technological dissemination
tools regarding the project's outputs and results in social media (such as
Reedit) and for delivering video contents about learning activities (video
learning approach) in an IPTV solution, supported by FutureBox.
